Ricky Gervais continues to fly the flag for Reading as his final season of Netflix comedy After Life impresses audiences worldwide.
Mr Gervais, who grew up in Whitley, has countless film and television credits to his name; including the Office and Derek, however none have quite had the impact that After Life has.
Starting back in 2019, the programme follows Mr Gervais as a recent widow who lost his wife to cancer, and follows his journey of grief.
The show won Best Comedy at the 2021 National Television Awards, and 2022 has started on a high for the comedian as the last series, which came out on Friday, 15 January, has been met with rave reviews.

Peter Egan, the famous actor from sitcom Ever Decreasing Circles, starred in the lastt two series of the show, and could hardly contain his emotion at finishing the final episode.

England and Machester City football star Jack Grealish is a huge fan, even deciding against binge-watching the programme in an attempt to drag it out.
So I guess since @rickygervais Afterlife 3 is number one on Netflix, I’m gonna have to buck up and watch it .. by buck up I mean grab a box of Kleenex & lock my bedroom door so no one sees me bawling like a little bitch…AGAIN! God I hope this is the last season🙄

It's even made it big stateside, with Hollywood icon Kirstie Alley tweeting her support for the show.
This series finale marks the end of an incredible period for Mr Gervais, who has won British Comedy Awards for the show in 2019 and 2020.
