A brand new Italian gelato bar and late-night dessert restaurant has opened in Wokingham.
Dessert Maid, based at 5 Central Walk, opened at 2.30pm on Saturday, January 22.
Serving up more than 20 flavours of traditional Italian gelato and sweet waffles, it will provide a late-night option for residents with a sweet tooth.
The restaurant was officially opened by Wokingham Town mayor, Tony Lack, who cut the ribbon.
Co-owner of Dessert Maid, Jagdeep Singh, was overjoyed to finally see his establishment open.
Speaking ahead of the official ceremony, Mr Singh said: “It’s been two and a half months since we owned the shop so I’m so glad it has finally opened.
“It’s been a long road but we’re just so happy.
“I’m absolutely ecstatic.
“When I received the confirmation, I was just so happy.
“I was looking around to get TikTok stars or local celebrities over, but I opted for the mayor and I’m ecstatic.”
Becoming the first dessert bar in the town, Mr Singh believes they offer a service unavailable in the town currently.
Mr Singh continued: “We’re bringing something to Wokingham that isn’t already here, and Italian gelato shop that sells a variety of desserts.
“What’s unique about us is that we’re more of a late opening café so we open late in the afternoon and closing at around 22.30.
“We’re a local business that I think the town need.”
