An eight-year-old boy from Reading has raised over £800 for charity in the month of January.
Micky Doyle, a student at Calcot Primary School, has been running three and a half kilometres every day in the month of January for Cancer Research.
Totally over 100km in 31 days, Micky chose Cancer Research after close family members and friends have been deeply affected by the disease.
His total currently stands at £840, more than £300 over his original target of £500.
Speaking to the Reading Chronicle, Micky’s father Alec Doyle says the family could not be prouder of him.
He said: “It is unbelievable what he’s doing.
“It is really tough but he wanted to do it.
“He’s absolutely shattered but he’s still doing it.
“If you run around our block three times it is just over 3.5km so he’s doing that.
“He runs with me sometimes and he’s done about 27 park runs too.
“He’s a brilliant lad and we want him to get some recognition for what he’s putting himself through.”
Micky himself is determined to make sure he finishes the challenge but admits he cannot wait for it to be finished.
He added: “My legs are really hurting but I’m really proud.
“I love running, it’s my favourite sport.
“I’m very tired but I would never stop.
“After this I don’t want to even think about running again for a long time.”
