POLICE were called to reports of an Extinction Rebellion demonstrator 'abseiling' of a motorway bridge.
At about 10am on Saturday, January 29, two officers turned up to investigate the XR protest on the footbridge at Shinfield above the M4 motorway.
The protest encouraged drivers to think about climate change and spread the message to 'put a stop to new roads being built'.

However midway through the demonstration, police turned up asking whether 'anyone was abseiling off the bridge'.
Thames Valley Police said: "A member of the public arrived at the bridge (in cycling clothing) to lay a banner on the overbridge, relating to climate protests.
"We engaged with the member of the public to seek to facilitate lawful and peaceful protest and no offences were committed and there was no danger to road users.
"Thames Valley Police is committed to facilitating a peaceful protest and the right to freedom of expression, while also keeping the community safe."
