A Reading road is set to be closed every weekday morning during term time after it was deemed a School Street.
Crescent Road, which services Maiden Erlegh School, UTC Reading and Alfred Sutton Primary School, will restrict traffic between 8.15 and 9am each school day from February 28.
The launch of Reading’s fourth School Street was postponed by two months to enlist volunteer marshals, which will be organised by the three schools.
Speaking on behalf of the schools, Maiden Erlegh School Business Manager Julie Foster said: “We feel that it will have a big impact on the safety of our students, parents and the local community.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all those who have volunteered from the local community and look forward to working with them in the future.”

The Crescent Road School Street, the first in East Reading, will initially launch only in the mornings, with the street open as usual in the afternoons – but this could change.
Reading Borough Council’s councillor for transport Tony Page said: “School Streets not only make travel to schools safer but also create a healthier and more pleasant local environment for everyone living in the vicinity.
“I wish the Crescent Road School Street every success and hope it can soon extend to cover the afternoons as well as mornings.”
“It is also important to note that once operational, the local community will have another 6-month window during which to comment before any decision is taken to make it permanent.”

The schools are looking for more volunteer marshals, who can sign up for as many shifts as they like.
No experience is necessary and full training will be provided.
