Police rescued a malnourished dachshund from its owner after finding her tied to a tyre by wire in Caversham without any access to food or water.
Members of the public had raised concerns after hearing barking coming from inside a wooden box at an unauthorised traveller encampment in Hills Meadow car park over several nights.
The dog was found at 2.30pm on Wednesday (February 2) three feet from the box with its spine and ribs visible from malnourishment.

Some evidence of food was found but police could not confirm how much the dog was fed or when.
Police took the dog from its owner and are appealing to anyone who has information or dash-cam footage that could assist with their investigation.
