A Reading chef is set to appear on Great British Menu this month.
The Great British Menu is a BBC cookery competition first airing in 2006, pitting chefs against each other week by week, with the best chef of each week progressing to a knock-out style tournament.
Tony Parkin from Reading is set to appear on week four of the new series for London and the South East, and was previously on the programme in 2021.
He scored a 10 on his dessert but was eliminated, with Oli Marlow winning the heat.
Mr Parkin is currently Head Chef at the Tudor Room in Surrey, a Michelin star restaurant in Surrey.
In the past Mr Parkin has worked at Copenhagen’s Noma, a one-star restaurant, Gordon Ramsey’s three-star restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsey, and one- star Northcote Manor in Lancashire.
Mr Parkin is classically trained and has a French style of cooking using modern techniques with Thai influences.
For the competition, Tony is bringing his depth of flavour to dishes inspired by Ricky Gervais and Keith Floyd.
He will be up against Spencer Metzger of the Ritz; Robbie Lorraine of Only Food and Courses and Angelo Sato of Humble Chicken.
The 17th series sees an all-new judging line-up of Tom Kerridge, Nisha Katona, Ed Gamble and host Andi Oliver. This year’s theme celebrates 100 Years of British Broadcasting.
