A gang beat a man in his twenties with weapons including a hammer, a baseball bat and a wrench in Reading this morning (February 21).
At least four offenders left the victim with serious injuries in Rivermead Road, which is near the River Loddon in Woodley.
The victim has remained in hospital since the attack, which occured at 12.30am.

The offenders are thought to have left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle.
Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Iain Watkinson, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “This appears to be a targeted attack and I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed this assault or knows the identity of anyone involved.
“Anyone with information should call us on 101 or make a report online, quoting reference number 43220078784.
“Or you can report information completely anonymously by calling the independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
