A man captured on CCTV appearing to 'pour blood' in Reading high street was really trying to stem a bleeding injury.
A week ago today, February 22, the manager at Wolf Italian Street Food opened his shop to find a trail of blood outside on Broad Street before more blood was spotted in Jackson’s Corner and Duke Street.
The Reading Chronicle published exclusive CCTV footage captured by Wolfs’ security cameras which looked as though a man was pouring blood onto the floor.
The man suffered from a work-related, accidental injury and was using a plastic bag as a makeshift bandage in an attempt to stem the flow of blood, police confirmed today (March 1).
Thames Valley Police stressed that no offence had been committed.
The source of the blood was not confirmed by police until Thursday (February 24). Up until then tests had shown the blood to have come from either ferret, primate or human.
The man was treated in hospital and his ‘welfare clarified’, police said at the time.
Given it was a fear for welfare incident, police could not reveal the tactics used to locate the man.
