TWO MEN have denied charges related to a reported stabbing at a pub in Tilehurst last month.

Daniel Parker, 29, of no fixed abode, and Andrew Parker, 37, of Thatcham, were accused of wounding with intent after a man was allegedly attacked at The Victoria on Norcot Road on February 12.

Appearing at Reading Crown Court this morning, both men pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Daniel Parker, appearing via video link from custody in a prison-issue grey tracksuit, also pleaded not guilty to possession of a knife.

The victim, a man in his thirties named Shane O’Connor, had been drinking at the pub at around 5 pm when he got into an argument with another man, police said.

Mr O’Connor then moved outside the pub when two men arrived and started fighting the victim.

The victim was stabbed and the alleged offenders fled towards Armour Road before later being arrested.

The defendants were told a provisional trial date had been set for June 6 and it is expected to last four days.

The duo will next appear in court for a pre-trial hearing on May 19.

Daniel Parker was remanded in custody whereas Andrew Parker was bailed under the condition he is not allowed to make contact with his co-defendant or the victim prior to the trial.

They appeared at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, March 15.
