Ricky Gervais has responded to the Oscar's 10-year ban on Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock.
Will Smith has been condemned by the Academy as it launched a formal review into his altercation with comedian Chris Rock during the Oscars ceremony.
The 94th annual awards show was thrown into chaos when Smith went onstage and hit the comedian in front of a star-studded audience, after Rock made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and her hair loss.

Ricky Gervais was quick to comment on Twitter on the Oscar's decision, sharing the caption “Hopefully, he’ll only do 6 years with good behaviour.”

Gervais from Reading has recently been the voice among celebrities in the aftermath of the Smith-Rock incident.
He previously came to the defence of Chris Rock, calling his joke “tame”.
