YATES Reading has announced it will close for good in the coming days.
The bar, on Friar Street, has been a popular place for locals to go on a night out in the town.
But on Monday, April 18 it will officially shut its doors to customers.
Yates has been a fixture in the town centre for years, occupying the grand old post office building since the nineties.
In January, the Reading Chronicle reported a new licence application for Yates had been submitted, which implied the bar could undergo a wholesale rebrand.

The application to Reading Borough Council referred to the bar, in 7-9 Friar Street, as “Slug and Lettuce".
So could Slug and Lettuce open up a second bar in Reading?
Yates Reading announced on its Facebook page: "We will be closing our doors on April 18 and saying goodbye to all of the amazing customers that have come through our doors over the years...BUT keep an eye out on our socials because something BIG is coming."
