POIGNANT pictures show the final days of Reading’s iconic gas tower as it was taken down.
Construction crews used cranes to dismantle Gas Tower Number 4 in March.
And fantastic images from a keen photographer who lives opposite the gas tower show its deconstruction over a period of weeks.

The photographer took the photos every few days to capture the progress of the demolition, starting on March 7 2022 and ending on April 11, 2022.
Now the tower has been flattened, 130 flats are set to be built in its place.
Developer Danescroft received approval from Reading Borough Council to deconstruct the tower in January 2021, but works were delayed after residents raised concerns for birds nesting in the area.
Dismantling Gas Tower Number 4 resumed in September, when works to remove the build-up of water and debris inside the tank began.
Heavy machinery was used to take apart the structure in March.
