A Tilehurst man has been hit with a hefty fine for attempting to travel on a train without paying.
Daniel Barrett was fined £220 after failing to purchase a ticket at Reading Train Station on August 19, 2021.
At a hearing which took place at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on March 1 2022, the court heard a ticket would have cost the 41-year-old just £7.10.

Daniel Barrett, of Kentwood Hill, Tilehurst, was found to "entered a train for the purpose of travelling without having a valid ticket entitling you to travel," acting in a manner which was contrary to the Regulation of Railways Act 1889.
The court found him guilty.
As a result, Daniel Barrett has been fined £220.
He has also been ordered to pay costs of £140, a £34 surcharge to fund victim services, and compensation of ££7.10.
