Former Reading striker Simon Cox has revealed that he would “be open” to returning to the club in some capacity in the future.
Tilehurst-born Cox was a product of the Royals Academy and made his first team debut under Steve Coppell in 2005.
Unable to break past the likes of Kevin Doyle, Dave Kitson and Leroy Lita, Cox moved to Swindon Town where he enjoyed a prolific 18 months before moving on to the likes of West Brom and Nottingham Forest.
I’d love to come back in some capacity one day. As everyone knows it’s MY club and if I can help in anyway I’d be open to it for sure.

Returning to the club in 2014, the former Republic of Ireland international made almost 70 appearances for the club in total- but feels he has more to add in the future.
Replying to supporters on his Twitter account, the 35-year-old said: “I’d love to come back in some capacity one day. As everyone knows it’s MY club and if I can help in any way, I’d be open to it for sure.”
Big rebuild starts now for Reading Football Club. The People at the top and the recruitment people will need to find players to give to the manager who he can make a team be competitive. It’s gonna be a tough off season and a very tough 22-23 season.

A supporter of the club as well as a former player, Cox believes it will be a tough season next time out and that a “rebuild” is needed.
Again, he tweeted: “Big rebuild starts now for Reading Football Club. The People at the top and the recruitment people will need to find players to give to the manager who he can make a team be competitive. It’s gonna be a tough off season and a very tough 22-23 season.”
