Long term Reading FC defender Chris Gunter has been released after the expiration of his contract at League One side Charlton Athletic.
The highest capped Welsh international joined the Royals in 2012 and went on to make more than 300 appearances until departing in 2020.
The right-back has played more than 50 times for the Addicks in his two-year stint in South-East London- his first time playing outside the top two divisions in English football.
Now 32 years old, the Cardiff City Academy graduate finds himself without a club with a possible World Cup in six months’ time, if Wales qualify.
Gunter captained Reading to the 2017 Championship play-off final and appeared 20 times in the 2012/13 Premier League campaign.
He has completed three full seasons in which he has not missed a game, featuring in all 46 league matches for Nottingham Forest in 2011/12 as well as 2016/17 and 2017/18 for the Royals.
