A road traffic collision that occurred on Kings Road this morning brought traffic to grinding halt as police closed the road to investigations.
As police cordoned off the area at both ends of Kings Road it was soon discovered that a cyclist had been rushed to hospital following a crash with a taxi.
Police reported that the female cyclist was air-lifted to John Radcliffe Hospital by Air Ambulance due to the severity of her illness.

Traffic throughout Reading was gridlocked with emergency services advising drivers to take alternate routes.
The cordon was removed at around 1:15pm and the bus lane opened to general traffic and Reading Buses. A delay of 40 minutes was still predicted for traffic throughout Reading at that time until further notice.
