A thief stole from a man who lay unconscious in the street after suffering a seizure in Reading.

Max Stockwell collapsed in Henley Road on Friday (May 13) but rather than call an ambulance, the offender took his bag and spent £1,000 on his bank cards.

A keyring made from a necklace belonging to Max’s grandmother, who passed away in December following a battle with cancer, was among the items stolen.

“I feel awful. I keep looking around thinking it could have been any of these people,” said the 27-year-old.

“It’s made me wary of the public which is a strange feeling. I’ve never had that feeling before.”

Max, who has been experiencing unexplained seizures, had been out with friends at the Purple Turtle when he felt one coming on.

He left the bar and sat outside St Mary’s Church to avoid overstimulation. Thinking it had passed, he began walking to his home in Caversham.

But in Henley Road he said he ‘completely lost consciousness’ falling to the ground so hard he chipped his tooth.
