An unused substitute on Sunday, Robert Page's side beat Ukraine 1-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium to book their place at the 2022 Qatar World Cup- their first appearance at the tournament since 1958.
Gunter played more than 300 times for the Royals in almost a decade before joining Charlton Athletic upon his release.
58 appearances at the Valley in two years followed but he was again released following the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
