A landmark 300,000 donations have been made to a voluntary organisation supporting food banks and Ukrainian refugees in Reading.
Woodley Volunteer For Our Community group have received more than 304,000 items since appealing for essential items at the beginning of the pandemic.
Organiser Ronnie Goodberry expanded the aims of the group when Russia invaded Ukraine in February, calling for donations for the victims of Putin’s war.

“All I can give you is my heartfelt thanks & gratitude for all your kindness,” said Mr Goodberry, 62, from Woodley.
Almost 61,500 donations have been made for the Ukrainian cause alone, with another 242,500 collected over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Goodberry and other volunteers plan to leave for the Polish-Ukrainian border with their fifth lorry full of donations since March.
On May 4, Ronnie received a letter from the Ukrainian ministry thanking him for 'throwing a lifeline' to the people of Ukraine.
