GP satisfaction in Reading varies by as much as 30 per cent between practices, according to a survey.

Secretary of state for health Sajid Javid told an NHS conference on Wednesday the current model of GP care “is not working,” something the British Medical Association previously attributed to a decade of underfunding from his party.

With hints pf a plan for “primary care reform” coming from the Conservative minister, we looked at the overall experience of Reading residents at their GP surgeries.

On average, 83 per cent of people had a good or very good experience at UK surgeries, while six per cent had a poor or very poor experience, according to the most recent GP Patient Survey (July 2021).

Six of Reading’s GP centres were above the national average while nine slipped below it. Of those, five had higher negative responses than the average.

One of the lowest rated, London Street Surgery, was recently put into special measures by the regulator due to a "a significant backlogs of test results and care-related tasks.”
