Lucas Joao's rumoured move to Turkey could be scuppered as Besiktas are close to unveiling new striker Wout Weghorst.
The 29-year-old Dutch striker flopped at Burnley, netting twice in 20, and refused to play in the Championship, with the Turkish giants "counting down the days" according to club president Ahmet Nur Cebi in outlet Sabah.
The Holland international was highly-rated upon his arrival in Lancashire, netting 70 in almost 150 appearances for Wolfsburg after hitting 90 in six years for a string of Dutch sides.
The Istanbul-based club were rumoured to have offered £3m for Royals forward Lucas Joao in the Sun- but securing Weghorst could see the interest in the Angola striker waiver.
This deal looked less attractive to Paul Ince and Co. after it was revealed in the Sheffield Star that former club Sheffield Wednesday could earn as much as £600,000 if he were to leave Berkshire due to a sell-on fee in the contract.
