November marks the first World Cup in which Wales have qualified since 1958, and Gunter hopes to be a part of it.
Speaking upon signing for his new club, he said: "The World Cup is coming up at the back end of this year, so that’s obviously something that’s very much in my mind. The dream situation for me would be that we have a good season at club level and we (Wales) have a really good World Cup. That would be terrific."
Gunter was a key part of the 2016 European Championship team which reached the semi-final, as well as the 2020 European Championship in which Rob Page's side reached the second round.
