THREE Berkshire towns have been ranked as the brainiest areas in the UK, according to a recent study.
Research conducted by puzzle experts SudokuCraze looked at level 8 attainment rates for GCSE and A-Level exams along with the percentage of people in each area that have higher education qualifications.
According to the study, it found Wokingham was ranked second with Trafford as one of the brainiest areas in the UK.

It came just below York, which came first, with residents having the highest combined levels of qualifications and high exam pass rates.
Wokingham ranked highly because it had the fourth highest percentage of students receiving a level 8 in their GCSE or A-Level exams at 57.55 per cent.
And it had the fifth highest percentage of its population possessing a higher education degree at 56.8 per cent.
And Wokingham isn’t the only area in Berkshire to make the list.
Reading ranked fourth and Windsor ranked seventh in the top ten.
Reading has the sixth highest rate of its exam takers attaining a level 8 or higher with 55.36 per cent as well as 55.4 per cent of the town’s population having a higher education degree – the eighth highest rate of any area in England.
And the research found 58.6 per cent of Windsor’s population have a higher education degree – the third highest rate of any area in England.

Other areas included in the list were London, Milton Keynes, Bath, Surrey and Hertfordshire.
A spokesperson for SudokuCraze said: “Since the pandemic began, there have been numerous setbacks to education and exams, however these findings highlight the areas in England that have surpassed the national average and are indeed the brainiest areas in the country.”
