The UK heatwave has forced a Reading school to make sweeping uniform changes.
Children at Highdown School and Sixth Form may wear their PE kit this week amid ‘extreme heat’ warnings from the Met Office.
The 30C temperatures hitting Reading are likely to cause population-wide adverse health effects, according to the warning.

To mitigate its impact, issued a statement on uniform changes and encouraged their students to wear sun hats.
Writing on Facebook, a spokesperson said: “As we will be having some very warm weather this week, students are permitted to wear their summer P.E. kit to school.

“This should be their school P.E. T-Shirt, shorts, socks and trainers with no variations.
“Students may continue to wear school shirt and skirt or trousers if they prefer.
“It has been good to see students bringing sunhats for break and lunch.”
