Reading have registered their interest in experienced striker Dwight Gayle, according to reports.
The 32-year-old has scored more than 50 goals in 100 Championship appearances, as well as impressing in the Premier League with the likes of Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.
Gayle last played in the second tier for West Brom in 2019 where he hit 24 goals in 41 appearances.
According to Footy Insider, the Royals are one of five Championship clubs to register their interest in the 2016/17 EFL Team of the Season star.
Huddersfield Town, Millwall, Preston, Reading and Birmingham City are named as interested parties after Eddie Howe demoted the striker to the Under-23s and surplus to requirements.
With two years remaining on his contract at St James' Park, the only way he would arrive at the SCL Stadium would be on a loan basis.
35-year-old Shane Long has already bolstered the striking options, with Lucas Joao and George Puscas completing the trio of first team strikers.
Midfielder Jeff Hendrick has already arrived in Berkshire from the Toon on a season-long loan.
