HORRIFIC reports of a 'shooting' in Reading turned out to be a waste of time.
Thames Valley Police received 999 calls of someone carrying a knife and that a person had been shot in Reading at 5am on Sunday morning (July 24).
The 999 call alerted police toan address where the call was made with officers immediately responding to the threat.
However, the call ended up being a total waste of time for police because when officers arrived, they found two children hiding in the property.

They tried to jump fences outside to evade officers.
Police found the two children and searched them, but decided not to arrest them to 'not criminalise a child despite their best efforts to get arrested.'
Officers said: "Instead, after being called many offensive words, we have attended and woken up the parents of both children who were not at all impressed and stated they should have been at a sleepover not calling the Police.
"We hope they will teach their children how to behave."
