Reading boss Paul Ince confirmed that Chelsea teenager Omari Hutchinson is not a priority for the club yet, with a left-back still taking precedent.
18-year-old Hutchinson has been linked with a move to the Royals all summer, with reports suggesting a loan deal was close to done for the Blues winger.
However, former England captain Ince confirmed that he is not high on the list of priorities currently, but could look into it further in the window.
Speaking to the media ahead of a test against Cardiff City, the 54-year-old said: "People like Omari Hutchinson, who is a top player, he's not on my wavelength at the moment. The most important thing at the moment is getting a left-back in.
"Nesta [Guinness-Walker] did well last week but it was his first 90 minutes. He's come from League Two to the Championship."
One move that is close to completion is that of Naby Sarr.
The former Huddersfield Town centre-back has been with the club for a number of weeks and the move is merely awaiting approval from the EFL, something which has taken more than a week so far.
Commenting on the defender, he said: "We want to get the deal done as quickly as possible. Mark Bowen is up there, trying to get things done."
