More than 300 council homes are being built across Reading.
Plans range from single houses in pockets of land to 94-building estates, all of which are to rent.
One of those developments is in Wentworth Avenue, where two semi-detached homes are under construction at the site of a disused garage.
Visiting the site, councillor Alice Mpofu-Coles said: “The handover is going to take place at the end of October from the construction company to the Council and we are so grateful that, all over town, we’re building more council houses for the people.”
The two-bedroom homes will include parking spaces and a garden.
The other 298 properties are at various stages of planning or completion, with the biggest site, Battle Street, awaiting a planning submission expected in autumn.

This 94-unit development would see Reading Borough Council build an older persons day centre, sheltered housing for over 55s, supported living flats with support spaces and affordable housing and flats.
Also of note is Hexham Road, which will provide 36 sheltered housing flats alongside a provision of services for vulnerable adults with learning disabilities.
