Sam Hutchinson makes his Reading full debut, coming in against Middlesbrough for the missing Nesta Guinness-Walker.
The former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder arrived on a free transfer in the summer and played in every pre-season fixture, picking up a knock in the week leading up to the opening match away to Blackpool.
The only other change against Boro is in goal, on-loan keeper Joe Lumley unable to play against his parent club, so Dean Bouzanis comes in for his Championship debut.
Full team: Bouzais, Holmes, Hutchinson, McIntyre, Long, Hendrick, Ince, Yiadom, Fornah, Loum, Hoilett
Middlesbrough team: Steffen, Jones, Giles, Mowatt, Fry, McGree, Howson, McNair, Forss, Lenihan, Bola
Paul Ince's men are looking for a second successive win after the 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, meanwhile Chris Wilder's Boro are yet to win in the league- drawing three of their four fixtures.
