A UNIQUE four-bed home owned by a 70s pop star and complete with Japanese garden is on the market for £900,000.
The Berkshire family home is being sold by Savills and sits in a small development of five other houses.
Current owners 70s pop star Jim Dooley and his wife Brenda, have lived in the property since it was built in 1999.
The couple have created an incredible home inspired by East Asia as influenced by Mr Dooley's travels with his band The Dooleys while touring.
Japanese inspirations run through the home but culminate in a stunningly secluded garden including Bonsai trees and a traditional teahouse.
Mr Dooley, who plans to downsize, said: "I was always struck by the tranquillity and serenity of Japanese gardens and when we had stopped touring, I wanted to create a relaxing environment at home.
“It’s absolutely fascinating to watch the colours change all year round. It has been amazing for our family over the last 23 years and it’s a great place for entertaining. It’s time to let someone else enjoy it.”
The garden includes bridges over koi ponds, the traditional teahouse, and authentic Japanese flora including bonsai trees and more than 50 acer trees.
The Japanese theme continues into the kitchen/breakfast/family room which overlooks the garden. A living room, study, cloakroom, utility room and entrance hall complete the downstairs accommodation. Upstairs are two bedrooms with en suites, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.
Will Sayer of Savills Newbury says: “This well-presented family home, on a quiet no through road, has the most incredible Japanese gardens. The owners have created a serene and calm space which is perfect for entertaining.”
The property is being marketed with a guide price of £900,000.
