Reading defender Naby Sarr is set to miss the home clash with Stoke City on Sunday after injuring his calf in the 4-0 defeat to Sheffield United, the Reading Chronicle understands.
Being substituted at half-time against the Blades, the 29-year-old watched the second half from the back as his teammates shipped three.
Only making his debut three days earlier at Millwall, and scoring, it has been tough for the centre-back after it took almost a month for the EFL to register his contract.
The Chronicle understand that the former France Under-21 defender had a scan on Wednesday and is out for longer than hoped.
Speaking after the defeat at Bramall Lane, boss Paul Ince had stated: "It’s getting a little stronger, but you look at Naby Sarr today, he does his calf at half time, and you think ‘AGAIN’."
It is thought that there was hope that he would be fit enough to face the Potters, but scans suggest otherwise.
He joins fellow centre-back Scott Dann on the treatment table after the 35-year-old injured his hamstring while on his way back toward first team contention.
It is expected to be more than two months before he is back near the first team.
Midfielders Yakou Meite and Ovie Ejaria remain side-lined.
