A PUB is hosting its last hurrah today as it bids farewell to its home in east Reading.
The Weather Station, in Eldon Terrace, has announced online that it is moving on to 'pastures new'.
The manager Kane said to the Reading Chronicle last month that rising rents meant it was 'unable to keep operating' at its current site.
A post on the pub's social media pages followed this announcement in the week with an update that Saturday would be its final day.
The social post said: "It's happened, The Weather Station is moving on to greener pastures.
"Join us for one last day of service at our Orange Box of Love that we call The Weather Station."
Owners Wild Weather Ales, a brewery in West Berkshire, took over the venue to transform the former Eldon Arms pub into today's Weather Station.
The Weather Station eventually reopened in September 2019.
Speaking to the Chronicle last month, the manager said: "Myself and the team have worked to build a fun craft beer bar and foster the Reading DIY punk scene and out in some amazing gig nights breathing life into a tired old pub.
"For this to happen after surviving pandemics and government restrictions feels like a real kick in the teeth."
He added: "There’s no bad feelings between myself and the property owner because at the end of the day they need to be making money too."
The venue promised a 'massive party' to send off the pub in style and today's event includes a host of bands and musicians on stage from 6.30pm, ranging from soft acoustics, rock and DIY Punk.
One commenter @zoeonpop said on Twitter: "It’s been a fantastic run at the old Eldon Arms which, frankly before @WildWeatherAles took over, was in desperate need of some new energy and vision.
"Kane and gang have been brilliant. Felt lucky to have it on my doorstep for so long."
When releasing the statement online the Weather Station said 'this is not the end, we will return', a promise many will be holding to see out if a new site will be found in the future.
