Reading netted in both halves to beat Stoke City and maintain the 100 per cent home form in the Championship.

Here are the player ratings.

Joe Lumley: 6- Hardly tested in the net, could do little about the goal due to a wicked deflection. Gained himself a stunning assist for Lucas Joao's opener and endeared himself to Royals fans with some less than subtle tactics to run down the clock.

Andy Yiadom: 6: Just a solid captain's performance. Up and down the pitch non-stop, his engine is one of the best in the division.

Tom Holmes: 6- Lost his man from the corner in which the Potters scored, but other than that the vice-captain did not put a foot wrong.

Reading Chronicle:

Sam Hutchinson: 6- Did not stop talking and leading throughout the whole match. Battered and bruised over the past week, he's already fast becoming a fan favourite having arrived in the summer.

Tom McIntyre: 6- One of the defenders best appearances for the club in recent weeks, the Academy graduate was everywhere. Very strong at the back, he even bombed forward and put in crosses.

Junior Hoilett: 6- Did everything expected of a full-back, which is very good going for a natural winger. Won tackles and constantly looking to add a threat going forward- perhaps the Canada international can have a second-coming as a full-back.

Jeff Hendrick: 6- Arguably the Newcastle United midfielder's best performance for the club, he was everywhere. As the older head in midfield, alongside an out of position Tom Ince and young Tyrese Fornah, he marshalled the three and kept the ball ticking over.

Tyrese Fornah: 8- Far and away his strongest perofrmance, it has been a joy to watch the Nottingham Forest loannee visibly grow in confidence and stature week on week. Having never played at Championship level ahead of this season, he is virtually undroppable on current form.

Reading Chronicle:

Tom Ince: 7- Playing in the unnatural role of central midfield, his infectious energy hauled his teammates up the pitch and helped get over the line in the win. Still making lung-bursting runs and sliding tackles in the 93rd minute, he embodies the effort the whole squad have put in for the first eight matches of the season.

Shane Long: 6- Did everything but score, missing a guilt-edged chance to double the lead in the first half from a corner. Hold-up play unrivalled in the Royals squad.

Lucas Joao: 7- Birthday brace for the Angola international, it was his best perofrmance of the season. After a difficult evening against Sheffield United on Tuesday, he put it right against Alex Neil's men.

Substitutes

Baba Rahman: 6- Did everything he needed to do. Won his headers, strong in the tackle and looked to break where possible. Be interesting to see if he comes in from the start on Saturday against Watford.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan: 6- Looked confident and composed in his cameo, holding it up well and prepared to take defenders on. Could be a real threat for the Royals in latter stages of matches this season.

Nesta Guinness-Walker: N/A
