People wandering in Reading town centre this Christmas will be able to buy a seasonal drink while the waltz around.
Every Christmas, Broad Street, the main shopping street in Reading, hosts festive stalls selling seasonal food such as German sausages, sweets and soft drinks to passers-by.
This year, the vendors will be able to sell mulled wine, beer and more alcoholic drinks from the stalls after a licensing application was granted.
The stalls in the town centre are being run by Peaks Catering Ltd, which also runs also runs burger and hot dog vans for events and temporary pick & mix sweet sales.
Earlier this year, the company’s owner Jo Peak applied to from 10am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 10pm on Sundays.
The licence has recently been granted.
The company has also won permission to hold ‘regulated entertainment’, which can include live performances, during the hours mentioned above.
It is understood the stalls will be in place throughout December.
In a brief conversation, Jo Peak told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that planning for the amount of stalls and the specific drinks that will be on sale will begin in the coming weeks.
