Major roads are to be closed in Reading ahead of the Proclamation of King Charles III in the town today (September 11).
Residents have been invited to witness a public tribute to Queen Elizabeth and the formal announcement of the King’s reign to the people of Reading.
The event will take place in two parts: First the County proclamation outside Reading Town Hall at 1pm, then the Reading Proclamation outside Reading Minster at 2pm.

The following roads will be closed to vehicles from 10am.
- Castle Street, from Broad Street Mall Car Park to Bridge Street
- Bridge Street, at the junction with Castle Street
- Hosier Street, at the junction with St Mary’s Butts
- St Mary’s Butts, from Oxford Road to Castle Street
- Chain Street
- Minster Street, from Earley Place to Gun Street
- Gun Street
- Friar Street, from Cross Street to Valpy Street
- The Forbury, from Valpy Street onward
- Market Place
- Butter Martker
- High Street
