Former Reading and Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland has signed for Champions League outfit RB Leipzig on a deal until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old was a free agent, and picked up following the long-term injury to captain Péter Gulácsi.
A Norway international, he was formerly of Aston Villa and Norwich City, Paul Ince signed him as a replacement for loanee Karl Kein.
Reading used four keepers across the Championship campaign, with Luke Southwood and Rafael failing to impress alongside Hein and Nyland.
Playing 10 times for the Royals in three months, his final match was marred by a costly mistake as he was tackled and conceded from his own goal kick against Luton Town./
Speaking to the German side on arrival, he said: "I’m very proud to be part of RB Leipzig and that there was a chance to help support the goalkeeping team on such short notice. Of course, I would have wished for it to happen under different circumstances, and hope that Péter Gulácsi’s recovery progresses swiftly and positively. I wish him all the best. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and having a successful season with my teammates.”
He is ineligible for the Champions League group stages, but can play in the Bundesliga.
