Four friends have fulfilled their dream of opening an Indian restaurant in Reading.
Just over 10 years ago Bhanuchandar Pathakamuri, 35, from Reading, was working for Dominoes, but now he and three pals he met at college and university are their own bosses.
Biryani Lounge opened in Wokingham Road on August 4 and has proven a success despite pressures created by the cost of living crisis.
“It’s a been a big achievement to run our own business,” said Mr Pathakamuri
“I feel so proud opening up a restaurant in Reading.”

He pointed to the popularity of his speciality dishes like chicken Biryani and mutton roast, following recipes from his home town in India.
“In terms of Indian Cuisine, no one has this particular menu in Reading yet. For myself I used to go to Slough to get similar styles of food so I thought let’s try to open one at home.”

The curry house has racked up 4.1 our of 6 stars in Just Eat and 4.2 out of 5 on Food Hub so far.
Mr Pathakamuri said that despite high energy bills, the businesses was doing well thanks to residents interested in trying something new as well as return customer.
