A DHL customer was left feeling shocked when his parcel turned up with an unexpected surprise.

The Reading business owner, who does not wish to be named, said the parcel was previously marked as lost and running a week late.

"I was sent a text saying it was due between 3.08pm and 4.08pm last Monday, October 10. It was actually delivered, and left outside my workshop, after hours at 6.24pm", he said.

Upon checking the companies CCTV cameras, the customer found the package worth £600 had been left outside.

"My initial gripe was with the large parcel being left outside, not just because it could have been stolen, but also, as it was soaking wet by the morning."

The footage went on to reveal the DHL delivery man walking to the corner of the property and urinating against the wall.

"It's not really on," the customer said.

"I find it highly inappropriate for anybody, not least, a driver for a national company, to think it’s acceptable to urinate against a building, right next to the door that is an entrance for myself and my staff, as well as customers.

"There are bushes next to my building, which you can kind of accept a person taking a wee in. But against the building is a very odd, and disgusting choice."

"It makes it feel all the more unbelievable."

"I was very annoyed when I saw the camera footage."

The customer contacted both the goods supplier and delivery company.

He said he has not received an apology from DHL but they told the Chronicle they are 'very apologetic' to the customer.

A DHL spokesman said: "We would like to offer our apologies to this recipient. His experience falls far below our normal high standards of service.

"We are taking up the matter with the Service Partner in question."
