A “spectacular” lantern parade will take place in Reading town centre to celebrate Diwali.
A musical performance will kick off the celebrations in Market Place from 4pm on October 29.
This will be followed by a lantern parade along Broad Street at 5:30pm, including three giant puppets from Global Grooves, two large installations from Samesky and lantern-holding children performing to Dhol drummers.

There will also be a professional performance by Kala’s professional dancers with children from Geoffrey Field Primary School.
The event is free to attend and has been organised with support from Reading Business Improvement District (BID) and Reading Borough Council, DIYA Light It Up will be celebrating Diwali with dance, light and music in a family-friendly event.

DIYA Light It Up is funded by Arts Council England and Reading BID with support from Reading Borough Council, Reading Museum and the Museum of English Rural Life.
