The least original Halloween costume in Reading has been revealed by new research.
Party-goers were out in the town centre spectacularly dressed as the likes of Freddy Krueger, the devil and Star Wars’ General Grievous, but some had put slightly less effort into their outfit.
The cat is the most popular Halloween costume in Reading, and the second most popular in the UK, according to eCommerce experts at Zendbox.
Head of Marketing at Zendbox, Gilson Pereira, said: “It’s interesting to see that across the years, one Halloween costume reigns supreme across each of these cities (excluding Brighton, who appear to change their mind each year).

“Our research found that The Purge is currently the country’s most popular Halloween getup, which is reflected across the regional data.
“It’s interesting to see the clear outliers who are marching to the beat of their own drum, such as the Tinkerbells in Liverpool and the cats of Reading.”

Researchers analysed search data from the last four October’s and found the feline was the most-searched-for costume for Halloween in the town.
Nationally it was The Purge that came out on top, being named the favourite in 58 per cent of the 25 cities and towns surveyed.
Other popular outfits included Medusa (London), Cruella de Vil (Birmingham), Bride (Glasgow), Tinkerbell (Liverpool) and Manchester (Black widow).
