A regular feature in the Reading Chronicle, we look at players who have played for both the Royals and their opponents over the last 20 years.
However, for the match against the Lilywhites this evening, only one player has appeared for both sides since 2002.
His name is Bongani Khumalo.
A South Africa international with over 40 caps, the central defender was a regular in his home country before moving to Tottenham in 2011 for over £1,000,000.
Never making a professional appearance for Spurs, he spent a six-game loan spell with the Deepdale side in 2011 before injuring a metatarsal.
Then-Royals boss Brian McDermott had seen enough and took him on a season-long loan ahead of the 2011/12 campaign.
Starting four matches, the arrival of experienced defender Kaspars Gorkss prevented him from playing again after August.
The stint was cut short in February and Reading went on to win the title.
He remained in England with Doncaster Rovers and Colchester United until 2015 before returning home and retiring in 2021.
