A CREATIVE tribute has brought together one community in Reading to mark Armistice Day 2022.
The Turn Tilehurst Red campaign has once again brought together crowds of residents who have joined forces to pay tribute to the fallen.
Armistice Day is held every year with a service and silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month to honour those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts.
It marks the end of the First World War in 1918.
This year, residents in Tilehurst were invited to join together to create a 'pennies poppy' at Tilehurst Triangle, where loose change was donated to the poppy appeal and placed to create one giant poppy tribute.
A service was also held, the Last Post sounded and a two-minute silence at 11am, followed by wreaths being laid at the cenotaph.
Schoolchildren joined for the event and performed songs, alongside First Note Choir which also made an appearance.
The event which runs every year raises money for Tilehurst British Legion poppy appeal.
There will be a further event on Remembrance Sunday from 10.30am when a parade will set off from Walnut Way before a service at the Triangle. All welcome to the Royal British Legion in Downing Road after the service.
"Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them."
