Royal Berkshire Hospital has launched a campaign to make sure 900 patients get a gift on Christmas Day.

The Christmas Gift Tree Appeal asks Reading residents to donate a present to one of nine collection points across the town.

People can choose a present or select one from an Amazon wish list prepared by the hospital.

Sukhi Sidhu, Royal Berksire NHS Foundation Trust's Voluntary Services Manager, said: “The last few years have been very difficult and challenging and we continue to live in challenging times but I am absolutely humbled to be part of a community that shows so many acts of kindness and generosity.

“Together we are making a stronger community that is capable of achieving great things and together we can make a positive difference to those that need it.

“The ‘Gift Tree’ is another lovely opportunity for people to support their local hospital and to bring joy to patients and wards on Christmas Day.

“A gift kindly donated by someone in your local community can make all the difference to a patient who’s in hospital.”

All unwrapped presents must be delivered to collection boxes or the Hospital by December 14.

Collection points which can be found at main reception, Royal Berkshire Hospital, Craven Road, or the following libraries: Reading Central, Lower Earley, Caversham, Woodley, Pangbourne or Theale.

Gifts can also be dropped off at the Link Café in Tilehurst, and those bought at The Works in Broad Street Mall can be handed straight to a member of staff.
