Affordable toys, clothing, books and games can are available at Thames Hospice’s new shop.

The charity opened a larger Crockhamwell Road store with dedicated womenswear and men’s department, as well as a children’s’ section, today (December 2) at 11am.

Its Home Studio will offer upcycled furniture, which can be given a new lease of life with the stores Frenchic chalk and mineral paint.

Julie Rowley, Director of Retail at Thames Hospice, said: “We can’t wait to reopen our doors to our amazing customers in Woodley. Our new store has a fabulous fresh feel with an extensive range of products for everyone.

“Every single penny spent in our shops generates vital income for the Hospice, enabling our nurses to continue providing compassionate care and support to patients and families facing a life-limiting condition.”

The official opening day gifted customers fizz and refreshment while they soaked up the celebratory atmosphere and began browsing for bargains.

The charity has has occupied a smaller shop in Woodley for 14 years.

Thames Hospice provides inpatient and community palliative and end-of-life care services to people aged 16 and over across East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire.

Their services are free of charge thanks to the generosity of the community and its volunteers.

It costs £14 million every year to keep the hospice running and they rely on charitable support to fund their services 365 days a year.

The Woodley shop will be open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and Sundays between 10am and 4pm.
