Injuries continue to frustrate Reading boss Paul Ince as up to six players will remain unavailable for the visit of Coventry City.
After a four week World Cup break, Ince had hoped that many names such as Tom McIntyre, Naby Sarr and Liam Moore would be welcomed back to first team action after spells with the medical team, but it is not the case.
Goalkeeper Joe Lumley and youngster Femi Azeez are back and expected to make an appearance against the Sky Blues, but that is about it for the list of those missing.
Midfielder Ovie Ejaria will also miss the clash with Mark Robins' men due to discipline issues.
Speaking on the injuries, Ince said: "Sam [Hutchinson] is a no [for Saturday]. He’s got a niggle at the moment so we will wait until the last minute. Joe [Lumley] is back. He had a good week in Tenerife and is ready to go. Tom [McIntyre] is 50-50. It’s been four weeks now, he did it before the Watford game. He’s back on the grass, he did the warmup today, we will see but it’s unlikely he will play on Saturday. Naby [Sarr] is back training, he’s had a good three or four weeks. Again, a bit too early for Coventry. It’s okay saying you want to throw them in, they’ve had no games. In our time, if you were injured you would get fit and play in the reserves, now it’s the Under-23s or putting on games behind-closed-doors to get them up to speed. We will have a look and fingers crossed for Birmingham.
"[Scott] Dann is back on the training ground now, he will play on Monday, a couple more games and he will be ready to play. Liam Moore had a hiccup. His knee is fine, but he is so keen to get back playing that he’s pushed himself harder and harder. He has tweaked his calf, which is sad for him as he's worked so hard. Seeing him in the gym and running outside, it’s like signing a new player. It has set him back three or four weeks. Femi [Azeez] is back flying. The Femi we saw at the start of pre-season. He’s played a couple of games with the Under-23s and he’s now with the first team. He’ll be involved on Saturday."
Kick-off against the Midlands outfit has been brought forward to 2pm to enable supporters to return home before the start of England's World Cup quarter-final with France.
