The family of a 93 year-old Earley resident have released three new photographs following a press conference that took place this afternoon.
Sidney ‘Donald’ Box was last seen at around 8.20pm on Thursday evening (5/1) in Silverdale Road, Earley.
Police activated a mass community response yesterday which so far have included the use of drones, a search and rescue operation in Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve and door-to-door enquiries and leaflet drops.
Superintendent Adrian Hall spoke out today in Brookside Church where he released a press statement to the public.
He said: “Today we are continuing our search for missing Earley man, Sidney ‘Don’ Box.
“He has been missing since last Thursday. He was last seen at 8:20pm on Thursday on Silverdale Road in Earley.
“Volunteers from the Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue team have been supporting officers and our specialist search team, along with Police Drones in the search.
“Leaflet drops and house to house enquiries have been ongoing in the local area, including Silverdale Road, Kenton Road, Raggleswood Close and we have been conducting a focused and thorough search of the Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve.
“It remains our top priority to locate Sidney safely, and so I would again appeal to anybody who believes that they have seen him to get in touch with Thames Valley Police urgently, by calling us on 999, quoting reference number 513 of 6th January.
The family have said that this is ‘out-of-character’ for Sidney and are becoming increasingly concerned due to the weather conditions and the clothing that he is wearing.
He was last seen wearing a dressing gown however they do not think that he is wearing shoes or any other piece of clothing.
Adrian added: “Sidney’s family are local to Earley, and they continued to be supported by officers.
“We will continue to maximise all available resources into our search for Sidney, and would re-iterate that any sightings or information relating to his disappearance should be given to Thames Valley Police.”
