PRINCE Harry’s new book, Spare, which was officially released yesterday has had the people of Reading flooding to their local bookstore with curiosity.

Many said the snippets leaked to the UK tabloids prior to the launch have shown another side of the Royal that they ’didn’t expect’.

Kerry Reilly, who was buying the book in the Waterstones, on Broad Street, said: “After seeing the Interview on ITV and his Netflix special it has made me see a different side of him.

“I have always really liked him, but after the interview and everything that has been leaked, I don’t quite know what to think.

“It has made me curious though what his book will be like. Maybe I’ll change my mind after reading it.

“One thing that is clear though is that it seems that he has a lot of mental health issues surrounding his mother’s death and the media.”

As soon as the book hit the shelves yesterday, WH Smith and Waterstones had already slapped a half-price reduction on it after Spanish booksellers published it five days early.

Graham, who works at Waterstones in Reading said: “We’ve actually had quite a few sales since it was released yesterday. Most people buying it are doing so out of curiosity because there has been so much hype around it.”

“However, I don’t think I’ll be reading it. From the snippets that I heard in the ITV interview, some of the things he talks about just don’t seem very relevant or interesting.”

“It’s like, who cares where you lost your virginity.”

It seems that, for some people, the interview conducted by Michael Strahan on ITV this week either encouraged or discouraged people to buy the book.

Another shopper said: “I don’t think I’ll be buying it. During the interview, I fell asleep when he was reading passages from it.

“I don’t think that’s a good sign for the book.”

According to Waterstones employee, the Reading bookstore is expecting to see another 100 sales of the ‘Tell-All’ after a busy release day yesterday.
