EVERYONE has a favourite restaurant. And there are some that stay in your mind even years after they’ve closed.

Restaurants may come and go but when they serve fantastic food and a have a brilliant atmosphere, they may be gone but not forgotten.

We asked readers to tell us their favourite eatery from years gone by and we received a glut of responses.

The Standard Tandoori 

Reading Chronicle:

Tals Mendez commented a broken heart emoji and said the Standard Tandoori in Caversham Road was a restaurant they miss the most.

Martin Wheeler said: "The Standard Tandoori was the best Indian in Reading." 

Bens Thai

Ben’s Thai Restaurant, on Royal Court, King’s Road, closed in 2005, and the building has been derelict since.

Stacey Gray said: "Bens Thai. Nothings compared since."

May Davies added: "I wonder why it closed. It was always packed."

Michelle Thorngate echoed this and said: "Yes defo Ben’s , it was amazing."

Nordesee

Elizabeth Cooke said: "Nordesee going back to the 90s! 

"They did the best fish cake rolls I have ever tasted!"

Lesley Adams echoed this and said: "Nordsee on Broad St in the early 80s."
