A DRIVER has been fined almost £1,000 after being caught driving on his phone and without insurance.

Viorel Daraban, 20, of London Road in Bracknell, was caught on June 6 last year driving while on his phone on the A3 Hook road in London.

At the same time it was discovered that Daraban did not have third party insurance for the Toyota vehicle he was driving at the time.

He was fined £660 for the lack of insurance plus £76 victim surcharges and £100 in court costs. For using his phone he was charged an additional £100.

Daraban has also been disqualified from driving for six months.
